Buddy McEwen
Recently a friend of mine wrote me to let me know that Buddy McEwen, better known as the unofficial "Mayor of Frayser" and officially the golf pro at Davy Crockett Golf Course or the Frayser Country Club as Buddy called it. Buddy is again experiencing tough times. Following a recent cancer relapse, Buddy moved to the Nashville area to live with his brother and to live out his remaining days. A really good friend of his made things a little more like home recently. A deal was made to bring a piece of Buddy's Frayser to his current surroundings. The original sign that stood at Davy Crocket in Frayser for all those years is now where Buddy can wake and again see it everyday. What an incredible gesture for a man that lived his life on the course. There are many people that we meet in our lives and Buddy is another one of those that has made an impact on my life. Don't fold'em Buddy, show'em you're bluffin'. Make sure you keep him in your prayers.

Black Friday in Atlanta, TX
Thanksgiving with the family was great. Still eating brisket sandwiches and working on the chocolate pie and sweet potato pie. We got up and went to Wal-Mart shopping this morning. I'm not sure why we went shopping as we already have Christmas done. Humorously we stayed at the Best Western Motel which was right next door to the Best Eastern Chinese & Sushi Bar. The lights go on at Graceland tonight and if you haven't ever driven by during the Christmas lights maybe this year would be a good year to go. Also, take a trip down to the Memphis Zoo for the Suntrust Zoo Lights (Friday and Saturday nights, Nov. 23 - Dec. 8 then Nightly Dec 14-23 & 26-30, 6 to 9 p.m. each evening (8:30 p.m. last admission).

Thanksgiving vs. Christmas
I was watching the Today show the other day as they were choosing their favorite holiday. The entire crew picked Thanksgiving over Christmas for varying reasons. Interestingly enough all were in agreement that at Thanksgiving all you have to do is give thanks and eat. Christmas has definitely started in the last few years on July 5th it seems. I hadn't even made a Christmas until recently only to find out that there was a Christmas list circulating for me already. Cheese and rice, give me a break! Slow down people. Actually a case of Abita Light would be just fine.
